HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER"S STONE
I am just a young boy of eleven.Thinks Harry Potter, a normal little boy, who lives with his aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon with their one and only foolish child Dudley. But, little does he know then that in the coming days he would be at Hogwarts, one of the finest wizarding schools in the world not of muggles, but that of wizards and witches.
The story starts with the Headmaster of Hogwarts, Albus Dumbledore, coming to the muggle world( world of people who don't have a single drop of magic in their bloods) along with McGonagall(teacher at Hogwarts) and Hagrid (Game keeper at Hogwarts) to leave little Harry aged one at the doorsteps of his only relations left in the world( Uncle Aunt and Cousin). His father and mother were killed by the most feared sorcerer of all times Lord Voldemort. Like in the case of any orphan boy, Harry too is seen in the house like a cat that has just rolled in a dead rat into a neatly kept floor. After 10 years, Hagrid brings Harry a letter of invitation to Hogwarts , from Albus Dumbledore. The episodes then are like magic (why to say like magic.......absolutely magic). Harry ,like any other wizard, starting his days at Hogwarts, has to have in hand a minimum number of things for school. The go to Diagon Alley to buy Harry a few books, a cauldron, a pet (Hedwig- a snowy owl), robes, and most important of all -His WAND. After his quick shopping, Harry goes to platform 9 3/4 to board the train to Hogwarts.O(That's all about the introduction).
At school, he finds his best 2 friends- Ronald Weasley, let us call him Ron, and Hermione Granger. He gets sorted into Griffindor house from the 4 houses of the school( Griffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff). He gets into the Griffindor team of Quidditch. Quidditch is wizarding sport played with 7 players in each team. Harry becomes the youngest Seeker in a century. Like all of us, Harry has a load of subjects, (Transfiguration, Potions, Defence against the Dark Arts, Herbology, Flying, etc). He develops great enmity with his Potions master, Severus Snape, as Snape mocks at him wherever he sees him. Among the adventures that the three friends have in their first year at Hogwarts, simple one stands quite embossed - The search for the Philosopher's stone.
The philosopher's stone, it is said, produces the elixir of life that makes a person immortal. It is for this that Lord Voldemort has been after for years after he had killed Harry's parents and had disappeared. At Hogwarts, there is a teacher who does support Voldemort( better not say the name)- You-know-who.Harry doubts Snape. Harry, Ron and Hermione find that it is the philosopher's stone that is kept unrevealed under the dungeons of Hogwarts for its safety. Harry faces Lord Voldemort face to face at the end of his search for the philosopher's stone. He manages to keep the philosopher's stone till Dumbledore comes for help. The story ends with the stone getting destroyed and everything in the calmness of its own( or may be not).........
Each chapter brings you a lot of excitements and turning points. Be sure to read this book whenever youget a chance.
