The Cuckoo's Calling

The Cuckoo’s Calling

                  Robert Galbraith (J.K. Rowling)

This is a crime fiction written by J.K.Rowling under her pseudonym Robert Galbraith. It consists of 450 pages and costs Rs.599. published by Hachette, India. This book is the first in the Cormoran Strike series, followed by “the Silkworm”.
Cormoran Strike, a war veteran and a private detective in a complete mess, sees a new ray of hope for a financial lifeline in a new case. The case was that of the supposed suicide of the famous supermodel Lula Landry. Even the Scotland Yard had closed its doors to the case, affirming that it was a suicide. But when John Bristow, the adopted psycho brother of Landry approaches Strike, he couldn’t reject his request.  But as he digs deeper and deeper to the mystery, this sure case of suicide gets more and more mysterious. And the closer he gets to the core of the crime, danger awaits him…
The book consists of 5 parts. Even though the first two parts may move slowly, I’m sure the rest will rush past you. You’ll find it more thrilling as the well brought up mystery begins to unfurl. This elegant mystery set in the backdrop of London, is a must read for all mystery lovers.  You’ll definitely find this book very different from other J.K.Rowling books.

So Happy Reading ya’all!

Percy Jackson And The Greek Gods

Author- Rick Riordan
Publishers- Puffin Books
Pages- 456
Cost- Rs 499
ISBN- 978-0-141-35520-7

Do you love Greek Mythology? Do you love lots of backstabbing, killing and cheating? Then friends, this is the book for you.

Percy Jackson and the Greek Gods is a side story in the Percy Jackson series. Chronologically this is the seventh book in the Percy Jackson series. But the story takes place after the ending of the Heroes of Olympus series. This is the only book in the series which does not involve any of Percy's friends.

The entire story is narrated by Percy. This is actually a guide for Greek Mythology. If you have an exam in Greek Mythology, read this book and go, you'll get full marks. He narrates the story from the beginning of the world, the gods and all. And then he gets on to the most interesting part- the gods and the wars. All twelve of the Olympians are discussed really well.

Rick's writing style is so awesome and he makes us feel as if the gods are real and are always beside us. And to make the story more interesting, he has chosen the modern world for his story. He speaks about the troubles that we face today as to some thing done by some god because he got irritated. In short this is a really good book and I suggest this book to all those who enjoy mythology. And if anyone has not read mythology, then this is a good book to start.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew

Author: C.S Lewis
Price: Rs. 225

The Magician's Nephew is the first adventure in the exciting chronicles of Narnia written by C.S Lewis and published by Harper Collins. It tells about the tale of the founding of Narnia - an eternal world sprouted with the Aslan's song and weaves itself a land where everything is possible, everything is happy and everything is prosperous.
Narnia was discovered by Polly and Digory with uncle Andrew when they went with uncle's magical rings, into the woods between the world. The book is worth Rs. 225 and has 220 pages I think the book is a good start for the adventures in the marvelous Narnia.
