First of all here is some information about the origins of the book.Oliver Twist,also known as The Parish boy's progress is the second novel by author Charles Dickens, published by Richard Bentley in the year 1838.The book was originally published as a serial, in monthly installments that began appearing in the month of February 1837 and continued until April 1839. 
The story is of a young boy, Oliver Twist who becomes orphaned after his mother passed way during the childbirth and was then taken cared by the Mrs.Mann who gave very little food and comfort to Oliver.After becoming nine years of age he was sent to work in a workhouse, and from there his journey starts.He works for an undertaker and later runs away to London and learns to pickpocket by the influence of infamous criminal Fagin, and then things take a turn and he meets Rose Maylie and Mr. Brownlow and at last finds out about his relatives and after a long struggle ends up to live happily.

This story highlights the hardships faced by young children who have nobody to take care and nurture them.Its a heart-warming tale and is sure to be liked by all.Its a really nice book with a charming 17th century backdrop and should be surely read at least once.
