BOOK NAME-Essence of life[A book of poems]
‘Essence of life’ is an anthology of poems written by R.Sheshadri.It is mainly dealing with the topics that we come across in our day to day life like prayer, waves, duty, anger and even he has written a poem on a small piece of chalk. The highlight that I found on his poems are many of his poem’s verse can form a quote
for egs
“to have a friend is better far
Than to have one in mask”
I loved these lines of him.i also found it very interesting to go through his lines.it is written in a very simple yet thrilling way.

                                   THE POET
                                                                                           -MICHEAL CONNELLY

Over the past few years  , I have developed a taste for crime. Nothing serious of-course  , just the occasional novel  , which helps me fill my thirst for  a good crime without getting blood on my hands. What I like most about a crime story is that moment where the fog rises and everything is explained- the motive and the modus operandi.  It’s a puzzle whose pieces fall into place slowly as you turn each page. And a great crime story is one that makes this moment really special.
The Poet was one such book , rubbing its shoulders with the likes of classics like ‘The Silence Of The Lambs ‘and ‘The Bone Collector’ – BOTH OF WHICH I HAVEN'T HAD THE FORTUNE OF READING AND HAD TO CONTENT MYSELF WITH THE HOLLYWOOD VERSION.
I  am not giving away any part of the storyline , because that would ruin the whole joy of reading . It is so entertaining that it had me completely engrossed  at the most unlikeliest of hours.  You can get your hands on a copy of this book from the Palakkad district library, but I would recommend it for the above 15 year olds, considering the repulsive and obscene nature  of the crime scenes.
                                                                                                                                                                                  ABHISHEK P

Author- Dan Brown
Publishers- Double Day
Pages- 480
Cost- Rs 750
ISBN-  978-0-385-53785-8

Inferno is wonderful thriller written by the master of suspense, Dan Brown. This is the fourth book by him which features Robert Langdon as the protagonist. The other characters which make the plot more interesting are Sienna Brooks, the provost, Elizabeth Sinskey and the other agents.

The good thing about Dan Brown's novels are that one doesn't have to read the first book in order to understand the next book since each one of his novel has a more interesting and heart stopping plots. The main theme of the novel is over population and the book is written using inspiration from the world famous Dante's Divine Comedy. The Divine Comedy is an epic poem in three parts. They are Inferno, Purgatario and Paradiso.

Langdon finds himself in a hospital in the starting of the book. He meets Sienna Brooks, the doctor who took care of him. He is followed by an agent of the provost who is hell bent on killing him and extracting information out of him which would mean the end of the world. His memory is gone and the only thing he remembers is a grey haired lady telling him, "Seek and you shall find" and his and Sienna's knowledge about Dante. The book takes us to Florence, Venice, Istanbul and many more places of importance. Will they find what they seek? Or does it mean the end of the world? Read this book to find out!

This being my first reading of Dan Brown struck a chord in me with his wonderful style of writing. His depictions of ancient cultures, paintings and buildings are wonderful and spot on. Reading the book, we feel as if we are really in the place where the story is happening. In my opinion, this is a good book to start reading Dan Brown's writing.

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

Author: John Green

Publisher: Penguin Books

Cost : Rs 399

Number of pages:313

John Green’s “Fault In Our Stars is a very thrilling book. My favourite character was Isaac, because even though he had a very little role to play, he appeared honest, modest and humourous. This book is The New York Times Bestseller, so obviously the author has succeeded.

I have heard my friends saying that this book is marvellous and when I finished it, for me it was more than that. This book is filled with comedy, tragedy, seriousness and what not? I want to read John Green’s “Let It Snow” next.

The protagonist of this book is Hazel and Augustus or simply Gus. Hazel is suffering from tumour and her parents want her to join the support group, which she regrets at first but later was happy with that. She meets Gus there, and they become friends. There is also another parallel story - Hazel likes the book “An Imperial Affliction” written by Van Houten and wants to know what happened when the book got finished {because the book was not completed by the author}. These two scenes take the main part of this book. Hazel’s friend Gus too suffers from cancer, but in spite of suffering from these diseases, they live like normal people. Fear is not a solution to all your problems.

Read this book and enjoy maximum.
