The Merchant Of Venice BY William Shakespeare

This is a powerful play about friendship, kindness, justice and mercy. The play talks about two friends Bassanio and Antonio.Bassanio needs money to travel to Belmont and marry Portia. So Antonio helps him by borrowing money from Shylock, a rich Jew under a condition that Antonio should sign a merry bond stating that if he fails to return the amount within three months Shylock is entitled to cut a pound of flesh from any part of Antonio's body. Later, his bond is forfeited and he is brought to the court to face Shylock's demand of a pound of his flesh, but Portia cleverly saves Antonio by using her intelligence in the court.

It was a beautiful play and was very interesting and meaningful. It taught about the importance of friendship, kindness, justice and mercy. The most interesting part according to me was the court scene where Portia saved Antonio with her intelligence. Some parts were a little difficult because of the old language but I had a great time reading the book.
