THE POET
Over the past few years , I have developed a taste for crime. Nothing
serious of-course , just the occasional novel , which helps me fill my thirst for
a good crime without getting blood on my hands. What I like most about a
crime story is that moment where the fog rises and everything is explained- the
motive and the modus operandi. It’s a puzzle
whose pieces fall into place slowly as you turn each page. And a great crime
story is one that makes this moment really special.
The Poet was one such book , rubbing
its shoulders with the likes of classics like ‘The Silence Of The Lambs ‘and ‘The
Bone Collector’ – BOTH OF WHICH I HAVEN'T HAD THE FORTUNE OF READING AND HAD TO CONTENT
MYSELF WITH THE HOLLYWOOD VERSION.
I
am not giving away any part of the storyline , because that would ruin
the whole joy of reading . It is so entertaining that it had me completely
engrossed at the most unlikeliest of
hours. You can get your hands on a copy
of this book from the Palakkad district library, but I would recommend it for
the above 15 year olds, considering the repulsive and obscene nature of the crime scenes.
