The Alchemist is a really wonderful book written by the famous author Paulo Coelho. The book is treasure chest of philosophies and wonderful quotes. The protagonists of the book are Santiago and the Alchemist.

"Amish is well on his way to becoming the Paulo Coelho of the east"
This is a comment on one of the books of the Shiva Trilogy. I have always wondered why it is Paulo Coelho and not somebody else. But after reading this book, my doubt has run away from me. This book is a story of how and Andalusian Shepperd named Santiago has a dream of a treasure in Egypt and seeks it out. With many fateful encounters with Gypsies, Kings and other people, he finally reaches the Desert where the alchemist lay waiting for him. The alchemist is a person who has the Philosopher's Stone and the Elixir of Life. Those of you who have read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone would know what they are. For those who don't, they are magical things that can cure you of any disease and also increase your lifespan. Learning new and new things from the alchemist, the boy learns more and more about life and its hardships. Some quotes which I loved from this book are these-
"Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure."
"When you want something, all the Universe conspires in helping you to achieve it."
"Because I don't live in either my past or my future. I am only interested in the present. If you can concentrate always on the present, then you'll be a happy man."
There are a lot more, but then it would be a long list.As I told before the book is treasure chest of quotes. Grab this book and read it to get an experience of Paulo Coelho's wonderful writing style.
