The session began at around 10:00 a.m. with
Mujib Rahiman Sir welcoming Mr. Abdul Latheef Naha Sir.
Abdul Sir worked with The Hindu newspaper. He told us about how a
newspaper is made and explained the process of making one. He said that a
newspaper is one of theonly products
that costs less to buy than the money needed to make it. He also said that
advertisements are added to newspapers to make up for the money lost in making
a newspaper, and that the paper used for printing newspapers is called newsprint.
He told us that a newspaper has three main parts – news, views, and advertisements. He explained that newspapers should be written in simple language. He gave an example to explain how news works: “If a dog bites a man, it’s not news. But if a man bites a dog, it is news.” He said that good news should be unique and interesting.
The session ended with an interactive question session. It was a wonderful experience, and we all learned many new things. The session was very informative and engaging.
