The eternal love story of Sakunthala and Dushyanta is familiar to each and every one of us however their future life has still remained a mystery for us. And this book is the perfect guide for it. This book is written by Vineet Aggarwal and is a historical book with a mixture of imagination and many characters. It is set in 400 century BCE Puru.
Sarvadamana was brought up by his mother Sakunthala in the forest. He was a great player. Like others he never played with boys of his age but his play was rather with the Tigers and Lions of the forest. Though he was not, he used to act like a mad person in front of others. In due course of time he develops into a brave and courageous person. A childless king once finds Sarvadamana helping a lion and its cubs get out of a trap made to catch the poor animals of the forest. Pleased by his bravery and wisdom, the king offers him the throne. He happily accepts it and gets over throned as the king and rules the entire empire that stretched from the holy Himalayas to the calm Kanyakumari. He later changes his name due to the request of his subjects as Bharatha - meaning ‘The Cherished’. His rule was said to be the golden era. Everyone used to be happy, equally treated and live a prosperous life. The story after, tells about the places he conquered, his expedition to other kingdoms and empires, his love and marriage and much more.
I really enjoyed the book and especially a phrase – ‘Everyone has warriors within themselves. Instead of waiting for it to come you must fight for it to come’ captivated me to such an extent. This was a great book to read with very realistic similes and metaphors that were vivid and witty. I would highly recommend it to every History lover, who wishes to know more about ancient India. It will leave readers with a great deal to think about. So, grab the book right now and enjoy reading.
