The election for the Readers’ Club office bearers for the academic session 2024-2025 was conducted online on 31st August 2024 at 7:00 PM. This virtual election was a significant event, as members of the club had the opportunity to vote for their leaders, following a democratic process introduced during previous meetings. The election was organized through Google Meet, ensuring that members could participate seamlessly from their homes.
1. Commencement of the Election
The majority of the club members were present, demonstrating their enthusiasm and commitment to the election process. The meeting began with a warm welcome from the teacher in-charges, Mr. Mujib Rahiman and Mrs. Rugmini Menon, who reiterated the importance of leadership within the club and explained the election process. The members were informed that the voting would be conducted through the poll feature of Google Meet, ensuring an anonymous and efficient process.
2. Candidate Speeches
An important highlight of the meeting was the speech by Vismaya, a candidate for the position of Joint Secretary, who had been absent during the second meeting. She was given an opportunity to present her speech before voting commenced. Vismaya expressed her vision for the club, outlining her plans to enhance member participation and contribute to the overall growth of the Readers' Club.
3. Voting Process
The voting process officially began at 7:15 PM. Members cast their votes using the poll feature in Google Meet, which allowed for a quick and secure collection of votes. The use of this feature ensured transparency and fairness, as members were able to vote privately.
4. Election Results
The results of the election were announced promptly at 7:30 PM. The following candidates were elected to the office bearer positions:
• President: Nehara Praveena Krishna, IX B
• Vice-President: Diya Sherin S, IX D
• Secretary: Joshna N, IX D
• Joint-Secretary: Vismaya R, IX A
These students were chosen by their peers to lead the club and take on the responsibility of managing its activities for the academic year. Each of them had previously presented compelling cases during the election campaign, which evidently resonated with the members.
The election was concluded smoothly, with members expressing satisfaction with the process and the results.
