Letters from a Father to His
Daughter
This is a
very popular book by our first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. These letters
were written in 1982.This book is a collection of letters that he sends to his
daughter in Mussoorie, from Allahabad over the summer. The book is published by
Penguin Books and it has a very attractive cover illustration by Ajanta
Guhathakurta. The book consists of 154
pages and costs Rs. 275.
These letters
narrate stories of how and when the earth was made, about life and how it
began, and how civilizations and societies evolved all over the world! In this
book Nehru tells us to read and understand the ‘Book of Nature’. It inspires us
to explore new horizons, seek adventure in even a tiny bit of pebble! Observe the
little things that together make the Book of Nature and learn from them. Indeed,
their stories are much more enchanting than fairy tales!!
In my opinion
every girl or boy should read this book. It’ll help to understand a broader
meaning of history. Not just by hearting the dates and events before a test and
erasing everything after use! But instead, exploring and understanding it by
ourselves! I think history would’ve been much more interesting if it was taught
in this way!!!!
