Our Readers Club Survey

OUR SURVEY TRIP TO DISTRICT LIBRARY

As a part of the readers club activity for the winter break, we were told to conduct a survey on reading habit among children. I made my group with Surya and Srivalsan. We reached the stadium bus stand by 10:00 am on Saturday. Then from there we walked till the library.

The library is a big one with 2 floors. There were many facilities available to children and readers provided in the library.

There we interviewed Mr.Ajayan, the Secretary of the district library. He was a person of around the age of 60. When we entered his cabin, we told him that we had come from K.V.K to interview him for our project, he was happy and told us that many students came for interviewing from our school. He is currently the Managing Director of Kairali T.V and the Secretary of the District Library. When we started asking him about the present reading habit among children, he told us that reading habit is reducing among us. He also said that he had read around 10000 books before completing his 10^th grade. Then he advised us a lot about how we should be useful in making a better society. From the interview we came to know that the library had more then 50000 books. The library subscribes 18 newspapers and 78 periodicals. We all can become members of the library very easily. There are different corners especially for the famous personalities.

Through the survey we learnt many useful things apart from the project. When we interviewed Mr.Ajayan, he became so deeply interested in teaching us to be good human beings. I hope that more and more students from our school become members of the district library. I hope reading habit will not decline in the future and we all become good citizens.
